Obituary
On Wednesday, June 15th, 1887, at the home of her father in the town of Ray, Macomb county, Mich., after an illness of some four months, Miss Sarah Louise Vovillia, aged 24 years, 10 months, and 17 days. In answer to an implicit faith in the Lord Jesus Christ hers was a happy death, affording to the bereaved father, mother, brother, and two surviving sisters, the clearest evidence of her acceptance of Him and of complete victory over death and the grave. After imparting to each her last message and bestowing some gift as a token of her dying love, she said to her father she wanted Elder Young, of Romeo, to preach her funeral sermon and named those she wanted to sing at her funeral. Having finished her work, she fell sweetly asleep in Jesus, to awake in his likeness, and to reign with him forever. To those who had prayed with and for her and who were witness of her triumph in Christ it was a scene never to be forgotten. Her funeral, which took place on Friday, the 17th, was very largely attended by all classes, showing much sympathy for the bereaved, and great respect for the departed. The sermon from John xiv, 2, "I go to prepare a place for you," was delivered by the minister of her choice, and the music of choice selections was most appropriately and well rendered by them chosen by herself. The service took place in the M.E. church in the Crawford settlement where the body was interred.
