THEIR DESTINATION WAS PHILADELPHIA, PA. ON SEPTEMBER 14, 1754 THE PASSENGERS OF THE BARCLAY DISEMBARKED. THERE WERE SEVEN PEOPLE IN HANS GEORGE HACKER'S FAMILY: HIMSELF, HIS WIFE SUSANNAH, MARTIN AGE 19, GEORGE AGE 11,(THIS GEORGE IS THE ANCESTER OF OUR LINE OF THE HACKLERS), JACOB WAS YOUNGER THEN GEORGE, AND TWO GIRLS, ELIZABETH AND BARBARA. HANS GEORGE AND MARTIN WERE AMOUNG THE FOURTY ONE MEN WHO SIGNED WITH X WHEN THEY DISEMARKED. THIS FAMILY WAS FROM INGELHEIM, PALATINATE, PRUSSIA (GERMANY) WHICH LIES ON THE RHINE RIVER. INGELHEIM, THE RED WINE CITY IS IN THE RHINE VLLEY. IN OUR TIME IT IS A TOWN OF AOUND 50 THOUSAND PEOPLE. IT IS AN OLD CITY DATING BACK TO THE ROMANTIC ERA. HANS GEORGE HAD TO ENDENTURE HIMSELF TO ANOTHER PERSON TO HAVE HIS AND HIS FAMILY'S PASAGE PAID FROM GERMANY. EIGHT YEARS AFTER THE FAMILY ARRIVED IN PA. HANS GEORGE AND MARTIN BOUGHT 185 ACRES OF LAND FROM JOHN BLASSER WITH A DOWN PAYMENT OF 20 POUNDS WITH 112 POUNDS TO BE PAID IN PAYMENTS AND THE LAST PAYMENT WAS TO BE 29 POUNDS. LATER SONS MARTIN MOVED TO MISSISSIPPI, GEORGE MOVED TO VIRGINIA AND JACOB STAYED IN PA. |
