Obituary:
John Edward VoVillia, 82, who had lived near Ray Center for a number of years, died suddenly Monday at his home, 908 South Lafayette avenue, Royal Oak.
Mr. VoVillia was born April 20, 1858, in Oberlin, O. He was employed as a carpenter for some time after retiring from farming in 1921.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the William Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, West First Street, Royal Oak. Burial will be in the Meade Cemetery.
Surviving are the widow, Meta; three children, Harold E., of Grand Rapids, Aura J., of New Haven, and Mrs. Mildred Warner, of Detroit; a sister, Mrs. Anna James, of Gary, Ind. and five grandchildren.

Aura Vovilla, 48 died early this morning at St. Joseph's hospital following a week's illness from peritonitis. A resident of Sugarbush road in Chesterfield township, Mr. Vovilla is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ethel Fox Vovilla; three sons, Bruce of Pontiac, Elton in the armed forces overseas, and Keith, 7, at home; his mother, Mrs. Meta Vovilla of Royal Oak; one sister, Mrs. Walter Warner of Detroit, and a brother Harold of Grand Rapids.
The body is at the Hubbard Funeral Chapel, pending funeral arrangements, which will be announced tomorrow.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday for Mrs. Metta S. Vovillia, 83, a former Ray township resident, who died Monday in Lowell, Mich.
She was born in New Baltimore, Feb. 22, 1874, a daughter of the late Ford L. and Mary Shattuck Milton.
In 1893 she married John E. Vovillia and the couple lived on a farm in Ray township until 1920.
They then moved to Royal Oak where Mr. Vovillia died July 22, 1940. Mrs. Vovillia remained in the Royal Oak area until 1950 when she moved to Florida to live with her daughter. Four years ago she returned to Michigan and lived in Lowell.
Surviving are two children, Mrs. Walter (Mildred) Warner of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Harold of Saranac, Mich. Also surviving are five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. One son, Aura, predeceased his mother.
Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Will & Schwarskoff Funeral Home, 233 North Gratiot avenue, Mount Clemens, with the Rev. Hubert Ellis of Belding, Mich., officiating. Burial will be in Meade Cemetery.
Mrs. Vovillia will lie in state at the funeral home after noon on Friday.
